Haguenau is a commune in the Bas-Rhin department of France, of which it is a sub-prefecture. It is second in size in the Bas-Rhin only to Strasbourg, some 30 km (19 mi) to the south. To the north of the town, the Forest of Haguenau is the largest undivided forest in France.
Haguenau was founded by German dukes and has swapped back and forth several times between Germany and France over the centuries, with its spelling altering between "Hagenau" and "Haguenau" by the turn. It was last German at the end of World War I, then briefly part of the independent Republic of Alsace-Lorraine before being annexed by France in 1919.
Haguenau is a rapidly growing town, its population having increased from 22,644 inhabitants in 1968 to 34,891 inhabitants in 2006. Haguenau's metropolitan area has grown from 43,904 inhabitants in 1968 to 64,562 inhabitants in 2006.
Wonderful St Lucia!
Elizabeth, The island of St. Lucia and the resort were both wonderful! 10 days was perfect. Rendezvous is well maintained, the beach is very walkable, and there is a personal touch from staff from beginning to end. We were upgraded to a seaside suite on the main level, received flowers and champagne on our anniversary (thanks Elizabeth), ate wonderful meals at the buffet and The Trysting Place was excellent. We also had dinner at TAO at the sister resort and it was superb. My only negative feedback is if you are offering day passes and meals at your sister resort, your guests should not have to pay $60 round trip for a taxi to use and enjoy the amenities at The Body Holiday. That was very annoying. I felt like we did not have true exchange privileges. All in all, a great way to celebrate our 35 years together. Thanks for recommending Rendezvous! P.S. I will remember your referral program and again, thank you for professional advice!
